Loches is a small town over from the valley of Indre on the old merchant road from Amboise to Poitiers which has long competed with the commercial route of Aquitaine from towers or Langeais. Very soon, this bridge appears to have been fortified. Loches is a small medieval town topped the oldest tower in Europe built around the millennium by Fulk III Nerra. In 840, Charles the Bald Alalande appoint one of his lieutenants, Governor of Loches. His grand daughter Roscille married Fulk I of Anjou, giving particular dot Loches in the county of Anjou in 887.
